Dr. Amy Pietras is a licensed veterinarian in Michigan whose professional journey reflects a deep commitment to animal welfare and affordable care. Originally working as a CPA, she drastically shifted paths after Hurricane Katrina, driving down to Louisiana to assist in animal rescue efforts.
Upon returning to Michigan with rescued animals, she founded a shelter, but over time she recognized that a greater need existed: access to low‑cost veterinary services for both pet owners and rescue groups.
Today, Dr. Pietras runs the Quick Fix Veterinary Clinic out of her home base in Alto, Michigan, while also working in other practices. Her clinic focuses on affordable spay/neuter services (especially for cats), dental care for pets—which she notes is often overlooked—and general wellness for animals in financial hardship.
She sees her decision to leave her corporate job and dedicate herself fully to animal rescue and veterinary medicine as life‑defining.
When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005, Dr. Amy Pietras didn’t hesitate to act. Leaving behind her career as a CPA, she drove to Louisiana with a single mission: to rescue animals affected by the storm.
Amy brought back a car full of rescued pets to Michigan, laying the foundation for her lifelong commitment to animal welfare. That experience inspired her to take the next step—becoming a veterinarian—so she could continue helping animals in need and make veterinary care accessible to everyone.
Her Katrina rescue efforts were more than a one-time act of courage—they shaped the philosophy of Quick Fix Veterinary Clinic: compassion, accessibility, and proactive care for all animals, especially those most vulnerable.Today, Dr. Pietras brings that same dedication to her clinic, providing affordable spay/neuter surgeries, dental care, and wellness services to pets and their families, inspired by the lessons she learned during one of America’s most devastating natural disasters.
“Seeing the devastation and knowing I could help changed everything. That’s when I realized I wanted my life to be dedicated to saving and caring for animals.”
